GenICam looks like the emerging standard for accessing digital cameras.
Linux support seems to be hindered by the committee keeping low level driver and API code closed. Still, I can’t really fault them in trying to prevent incompatible forks or non-compliant implementations from popping up. It’s a big step up from the Camera Link standard and might help force vendors into providing decent products.
